A Time And A Season

"Time as human beings know it does not exist. In the physical world the only time keeper is the body. Our bodies are our clock. Because all the time we have here is the time

our bodies give us."

Jessyka Winston | @hausofhoodoo

As humans, we have a certain arrogance about our lives. Even though we state we don't have enough time to get things done, when it comes to plans for our life, we act as if we have all the time in the world. The reality is we only have as much time as our body gives us. It brings up questions like:

What do I want to accomplish, who do I want in my life, and how do I want to live before my time is up? These are serious questions that demand serious thought. How can we to live our "best lives," if we are moving through it like zombies. We have to live like tomorrow is not promised, because it’s not. Alicia Keys song, "Like You'll Never See Me Again." expresses this beautifully.

Our bodies are our true clock, and each body has its own time. It is in our BEST interest to actively honor and care for these physical temples. Whether we do or we don't, we absolutely reap what we sow.

Living seasonally is living according to nature's clock. And each season of life brings its own lessons and gifts. If we follow those seasons, our lives will have direction. We will fall into a sweet rhythm that will yield the harvest we seek.

We do this by metaphorically following nature's cycles of planting, growing and harvesting. When harvest is over, you rest, then start the cycle of planting growing and harvest all over again. This applies to city or country dwellers.

One of my guiding scriptures is Romans 12: 1-2, especially the Message Version. It starts by saying, "...God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering." It continues, “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God."

Let go of the expectations that society and this culture places on us to do such and such by a designated date. Once you release those expectations, watch the stress drop right off you. Living in the natural cycles of life means yes, set goals, then find your rhythm for meeting them.

For those of us preparing for retirement, this is especially important. When you are used to living on the clock for decades, many flounder once they don't have that 8 hour parameter to live by.

Now is a great time to begin to get used to being in the flow of life.

For me, Mother Nature is God's school. It's where we learn lessons on living.

Over the past decade, I have connected myself to nature. Big stuff for a former city girl who hated being outdoors, even for a picnic! Yet, even with 10 years in, I am only now scratching the surface of what natural living means. My desire is to be so coupled with Mother Nature that people associate me with nature's rhythms.

Next week, let's talk about how to become more conscious of the time we have. We will also begin a conversation on how to wholistically support our bodies in order to make the best use of our allotted time.

Ki NOTE: This week, fill out the attached time sheet, instructions included. We'll discuss in the Facebook group. Are you a member? Come, join us!
