Rest to Rise

I’m home from a 9 day personal retreat, aka vacation, I almost didn’t take because I was caught in an old pattern of work first, rest later. Then I started thinking of :

  • The pool and the beach

  • The Sun

  • Fruity drinks in fun cups

  • Flip flops and sundresses

  • The smell of sunscreen and chlorine

  • The wide sky

  • The perfect breezes


Reader, I quickly packed my bag!


I retreated and now I’m rested and refreshed.


I had time to think, to dream, to remember. I am so grateful.

Today is also the last day of Wholly Holy: 40 Days of Rest and Renewal. Each weekly ritual moved me closer to being the woman I vision becoming for this next phase of my life.


It’s the consistency for me.


It’s the happiness that comes from keeping my word to myself, something I’m not always good with.


Today is Easter Sunday. Also known as Resurrection Sunday. It’s my favorite Holy Day.


I love the message of:

  • Resurrection

  • Restoration

  • Rebirth


My faith tradition teaches me: There is no resurrection without a death. I learned some things I had to kill.


Resting has bought me a revival. I’m so grateful for the time to rest which gave me time to re-member my intentions for my work and mission.

I’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks. But right now…. I’m going to continue to relax!




You get at least seven hours of sleep (hopefully🤞🏾), every night. You spent yesterday binging Abbott Elementary on the couch, So why are you still feeling tired?


According to a now-viral TED Talk by Saundra Dalton-Smith M.D., and author of the book, Sacred Rest: Recover Your Life, Renew Your Energy, Restore Your Sanity, it’s because you’re not getting all of the seven types of rest your body needs. “Rest is the most underused, chemical-free, safe and effective alternative therapy available to us,” Dalton-Smith tells us. Maybe, it’s time to incorporate these seven types of rest into your routine.


In order to get and maintain a harmonious life we need every type of rest on this list. What type of rest could you use right now?
